Frequently Asked Questions for Mentors

Do mentors have to possess a certain number of years practicing regenerative agriculture?

No. The mentor needs to possess a knowledge and some experience implementing various regenerative agriculture practices.

Will mentors need to participate in a training program?

Yes. Taking the Farmer Advocates for Conservation training program as a foundational framework, OhFARM created a self-paced training program to help mentors understand the relationship dynamics between mentors and mentees so they can be effective and impactful in working with their mentees.

Are mentors paid?

No. At this time, OhFARM doesn’t possess the funds to pay mentors for the time they spend with mentees. There may be money to compensate mentors to complete the self-paced training.

Do mentors need to fill out reports detailing the time they spent with mentees?

No. Reports are not required. This might change if OhFARM receives grant money.

Can a person be a mentor in other farming organizations in addition to OhFARM?

Yes. Participation in other farming organizations, mentorship programs, educational programs, or technical assistance programs is allowed and encouraged when it supports the mentor’s learning goals.
